We’ve received questions related to our Model 1900W-UNV being out of stock. Have we discontinued it? Absolutely not. In fact, we’ve recently updated the design and added a new version specifically for master clocks. It is the Model 1900W-UNV-UC. So with all the good progress, what is going on?
First there was 5 months of sciatica. Then there were solder paste issues. Sciatica is no longer the issue but the solder paste issue lingers. We’ll get through these, but for now we must focus on other products and will trickle out UNV’s as best we can.
Then, there were website issues. When we finally had stock, we couldn’t change the status and post the pricing. That has now been rectifed as well, hopefully for good.
In general things are improving now and we’ve re-opened the Model 1900W-UNV family availability on a limited basis (one to a customer). If they are showing out of stock, be patient–we are building up more (batches once per month) and the status will change when they are available. They sell out quickly!
Right now, only the 1900W and 1900S products have these challenges. So 1900S sales may be a bit temporarily slowed as well.
Why not hire a professional CM to build them? Cost. We would have to double the price to cover it, since CM’s want huge product volumes and exorbitant setup charges. It’s just plain impractical. China? First, we take pride in building product in the USA. Second, quality degradation, controlling counterfeit components, and recent Trump tariffs leave very little cost advantage and a good deal of risk of theft.
And by the way, contrary to what you might have been misled to believe, those government tariffs come out of our collective pockets, not China’s. When we buy materials, there is actually a separate line for tariffs that WE pay. And that MUST be passed on to you, the customer. We simply don’t have any choice. Please disregard the misleading information being propagated by politicians. We have the receipts to prove it. If you build anything electronic, these tariffs are impossible to avoid, period.
We will nonetheless continue to trickle out a few as we can, as things improve, and you should see the website reflect that. We have no intention of discontinuing these products; we simply ask that you bear with us during this very trying period.
